The Hijrah
Do not grieve — God is with us
As Quraysh plotted against him, he ﷺ migrated with Abu Bakr, hiding first in the Cave of Thawr. Asma and Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr carried news and provisions; Suraqah pursued and turned back. The journey to Madinah marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.
Why the Hijrah Happened
With Quraysh plotting against him, and Madinah ready to receive the Message, migration became necessary.
The Cave of Thawr
He ﷺ and Abu Bakr hid in the Cave of Thawr as pursuers stood outside — the moment the Qur'an recalls: 'Do not grieve; God is with us.'
The Road to Madinah
Asma and Abdullah carried news and provisions, and the pursuer Suraqah was turned back before the travellers reached Quba and then Madinah.
لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَنَا
“Do not grieve; indeed God is with us.”
Qur'an · At-Tawbah 9:40
